The 2012 Tournament
New England Beach Soccer would like to welcome you to it’s 2012 New England Beach Soccer Cup. The tournament will be held on Saturday, June 16th and will take place on Good Harbor Beach in Gloucester, Massachusetts. The NEBS Cup will be comprised of a Men’s division and a High School division. Registration is currently open. New England Beach Soccer is committed to giving back to the local community. This year we have chosen to donate a portion of money earned during the tournament to the Duarte Medina Scholarship Fund. The Duarte Medina Scholarship Fund is rewarding (2) deserving applicants graduating from Gloucester High School/Northshore area who are currently playing soccer on their high school team and demonstrates financial need to an institute of higher learning. Growing up playing soccer in a city right on the ocean, the idea seemed like a natural fit for Gloucester’s Mike Torres.
But last summer, the idea to form a beach soccer tournament was still just an idea for the 2006 Gloucester High graduate. One year later, Torres, a student at Northeastern University, hasn’t strayed away from his goal of starting a beach soccer tournament in his hometown. But now the idea has become reality.
